D'Arcy Spiese

USMC All Marine Triathlon Team Member

D’Arcy Spiese, 2nd Overall at the Langley Pond International Triathlon, held on April 26th in Aiken, South Carolina

On April 26th in Aiken, South Carolina, D’Arcy Spiese, a Captain in the U.S. Marine Corps, had a stellar performance and finished 2nd Female Overall at the Langley Pond International Triathlon.  Although the swim was a little long, D’Arcy came out the water in 1st at 24:47.  The bike course was shortened a bit due to delays in the race start by 1 hour because of an electrical storm that almost changed the race to a Duathlon.  With the 11th fastest Bike split of 1:00.09, D’Arcy had a race on her hands, but turned in the 2nd fastest Run split of 39:44, thus holding off the field by 1 minute to the closest competitor.  Within the field there were 6 Open (or Elite) Females racing, 5 of the 6 of which D’Arcy handily beat with her solid performance.

This race was a good tune-up for the U.S. Armed Forces Triathlon Championships that will take place on the 31st of May at Point Magu, California.  This championship race is conducted in the ITU (or Draft Legal) format, and will bring together about 100 of the U.S. Armed Forces top triathletes from around the World.  We will look for D’Arcy to be in the front battling it out for the U.S. Marine Corps' Team.

D’Arcy’s Cadence Coach is Todd Parker, who is very pleased with her progression over the last couple of months.  “D’Arcy has a very focused and disciplined work ethic, which was certainly highlighted in South Carolina.  I see enormous potential in her, and look forward to helping her achieve optimal performances in the future.”
